Keeneland has announced Nourish the Backstretch, powered by Keeneland, Nourish Lexington and Blue Grass Farms Charities (BGFC),will provide weekly meals and groceries to stable area workers at Keeneland and The Thoroughbred Center.

Last month, in conjunction with several community organizations Keeneland announced the creation of Nourish Lexington, an initiative to both provide hospitality workers laid off due to COVID-19 with gainful employment as well as provide meals to those needing immediate access to food

Nourish the Backstretch is a further extension of Nourish Lexington, which provides complimentary meals five days a week to anyone in the community affected by the COVID-19 crisis. More than 22,000 meals were distributed in the month following its formation.

Once forced to cancel its Spring meet, one of American racing's most popular, due to the COVID-19 outbreak, Keeneland turned its attention to both the immediate needs of the neighboring communities as well as longer-range plans.

In April, the company confirmed the September Yearling Sale would remain on schedule beginning with the first session of Book One on September 14th. Keeneland is also due to host the Breeders' Cup for the first time since 2015 following the conclusion of the regularly scheduled October meet.
