Instilled Regard furthered his reputation as one of America's more versatile racehorses when third in Saturday's Gr1 Pegasus World Cup Turf.
The 5yo son of Arch finished right behind globetrotting runner-up Magic Wand while third in the $1 million Turf, two years removed from his winning the Gr3 Lecomte S. en route to contesting the 2018 Kentucky Derby. At Churchill Downs rallied over a very sloppy track to place fourth behind eventual Triple Crown winner Justify.
The autumn previous to that, and with Instilled Regard readying for his career stakes debut in the Gr1 CashCall Futurity, two half-sisters to the KatieRich Farm-bred standout were sourced for private purchase.
The unraced Tapit mare Heavenly Tap, in foal to Hard Spun, produced the now 2yo Heavenly Star. Heavenly Sis, a 3/4 sister to that colt as she too is by the top sire Hard Spun, finished 2nd in an October MSW at Keeneland and resumed training this winter at Fair Grounds.
The dam of Instilled Regard and this promising duo is Enhancing, a daughter of Forestry out of Ogden Phipps' champion mare Heavenly Prize. The Phipps/Shug McGaughey influence is the headline story from this page, with the likes of Pure Prize, Dancing Forever, and Dancing Spree just some of the stable's major winners out of the immediate family.
