The season-long run for Chilean breeder Haras Dadinco continued this past weekend in Santiago. Training Again, still another farm graduate beholden to a strong American pedigree, won the Clasico de Uruguay S. The Van Nistelrooy 3yo led the 15-horse field nearly throughout the seven-furlongs for his 2nd career victory.
A tough colt with 14 career starts, Training Again is a son of the imported Awesome Again mare Not Again, a Virginia-bred from Bitter Lemon (Lemon Drop Kid), one of three stakes producing daughters of Gr2 winner Snit.
The family, largely curated by late owner/breeder William Backer, was designed to produce horses who will improve with age. That certainly is the case with both Training Again & Not Again's own 3yo 1/2 sister Lemon Bomb, who graduated this summer at Ellis Park following several strong MSW efforts.
Cotillion H. winner Snit, daughter of Handicap Triple Crown winner Fit to Fight, was a familiar campaigner on the East coast for Backer & trainer Barclay Tagg. She is also the dam of Gr3 Virginia Oaks winner Blind Date, who in turn produced black-type winner Paulita, daughter of ubiquitous Chilean influence Scat Daddy.
