Gas Me Up (Hard Spun) made another winning reappearance in his native Ontario when landing Saturday's Gr2 King Edwards S. for a 2nd straight year.
The 6yo Sam-Son Farm bred out of Chic Thrill (Smart Strike) commenced his winning rally under Fraser Aebly inside the 3/8th pole over Woodbine's newly renovated turf course. Gas Me Up and Aebly prevailed while finishing well outside a resolute Piper's Factor and Irish Aces in a very tight three-way photo.
The decision was Gas Me Up's 3rd Gr2 victory overall and first since rallying to win Santa Anita's Joe Hernandez S. at the close of 2025. The $140,000 Keeneland September graduate is one of three winners from stakes-placed Chic Thrill and full-brother to SW Give It a Whirl.
Hard Spun's stakes-winning progeny out of a Smart Strike mare also include Canadian champion Elysian Field and MGSW Sparkle Blue.
