Kentucky Belle (Justify) more than did her part to bolster an active Sam-Son Farm family with an upset victory in Friday's Gr2, $500,000 Saratoga Oaks.

The 3yo WinStar Farm homebred out of Dancing Fancy (Tiznow) made a successful jump in class off an April layoff with an equally impressive rally to secure victory from favored Faithful Departed.

With her stretch-running ability confirmed in an allowance win at Keeneland, the Oaks' 1 3/16th mile route was tailor-made for Kentucky Belle. Irad Ortiz tracked brother Jose aboard Faithful Departed, who took the lead inside the last furlong until surpassed in the final strides by the Brad Cox-trained winner.

Acquired by WinStar out of Sam-Son's 2021 Dispersal, Dancing Fancy is also dam of 2yo Energy Flows (Constitution), a $275,000 Keeneland September graduate who was 2nd in his mid-June debut at Churchill Downs.

Late last month in Japan, Dancing Fancy's MGSW 1/2 sister Danceforthecause (Giant's Causeway) was also represented by a debuting 2yo. Satono Flug (Flightline), a $400,000 Keeneland September graduate, was runner-up at Sapporo Racecourse over nine furlongs.

Dancing Fancy and Danceforthecause are out of Dance Smartly's champion daughter Dancethruthedawn (Mr. Prospector).
