Sam-Son Farms homebred Desert Ride won her 2nd Canadian filly classic of the season in Sunday's $225,000 Wonder When Stakes at Woodbine. The daughter of Candy Ride previously awarded Sam-Son with an eighth Woodbine Oaks trophy, the Canadian classic also won by her second dam, Eye of the Sphynx.
Early this season Desert Ride opened served notice at the Fair Grounds and Keeneland with eye-opening performances going through her preliminary conditions for trainer Neil Howard. Her summer at Woodbine has confirmed that promise with important victories on both synthetic and turf. Desert Ride, whose sire, dam, and grandam are all Mr. Prospector-line bred, is out of the winning Distorted Humor mare Fun in the Desert, daughter of the aforementioned Eye of the Sphynx (Smart Strike).
The Ontario-based Sam-Son is represented with a seven-horse consignment in Book 1 of the upcoming Keeneland September Yearling Sale, including five fillies.
Working closely with breeders and buyers who make it the global event it is, the arrival of the Keeneland September Yearling Sale catalogs is always highly anticipated. Read more about it all here and contact us to discuss purchase plans and representation. http://bit.ly/1PQr14k
