Anegada's 2025 can best be summarized as good to the last stride.

Love Cove's sophomore campaigner made a seamless transition to Tapeta after having raced exclusively on turf to land Saturday's $125,000 Last Hurrah S. at Turfway Park.

The Hurstland Farm graduate not only handled the surface change but also a serious rival in Final Gambit, 4th in this year's Kentucky Derby and winner of the Gr3 Jeff Ruby S. before that.

Walter Rodriguez donned Three Diamonds Farm's silks for the first time aboard Anegada and orchestrated a perfect come-from-behind trip. The Mike Maker trainee ran on determinedly to the long-striding Final Gambit's inside and prevailed by a nose in the cold night air.

The decision makes Anegada a dual-surface stakes winner in 2025, bookending a win in October's Hawthorne Derby on grass. The Midshipman gelding also finished a closing 4th twice in good stakes company over a 10-start campaign.

Anegada is Love Cove's 4th black-type earner from eight winners, all reared at Alfred Nuckols Jr.'s Hurstland.
