A big finish for the 2nd time in three winter appearances confirmed Broken Hearts Bay should not be long for the winner's circle.

The Hurstland Farm-reared Super Saver filly rallied from well off a strong pace to finish in a three-way photo Saturday at Tampa Bay Downs. The winner of the six-furlong MSW, Tita Mimosa, is a 1/2 sister to multiple Gr1 winner Taiba.

Two starts back over the same distance and surface, Broken Hearts Bay just missed while contesting the lead throughout in a sharp Florida debut. Her lineage suggests a host of possible career paths.

While best remembered for back-to-back NY-bred stakes victories on the turf, dam Love Cove also showed the ability to handle dirt early in her career. The daughter of Not for Love graduated sprinting over Aqueduct's inner dirt track, over which in her next start she came up just a head and nose shy of winning the six-furlong Dat You Miz Blue S.

The big mare improved with age, winning the Ticonderoga and Shopping for Love S. at age 4, and finished with seven total black-type placings between dirt and turf. She has proven similarly versatile in the breeding shed, producing winners by sires from the A.P. Indy, Kris S., and Storm Cat male lines.
