A generational Hurstland Farm influence found the winner's circle yesterday at Laurel Park when Sofia's Secret, granddaughter of MSW Love Cove, took a first-level allowance over a flat mile.
The consistent Pennsylvania-bred filly is the first foal out of Rosedale Arch (Arch), one of six winning Love Cove progeny reared at Hurstland for breeder Brant Laue.
Sofia's Secret, by the War Front stallion Peace and Justice, graduated with a bold last-to-first rallly (photo) in her 2nd start as a 2yo. She returned this summer with that same sharp form, and has now won or placed in her past five starts for trainer Brittany Russell.
Rosedale Arch is one of six winners produced by Love Cove, who earned just shy of $400,000 over a career highlighted by back-to-back wins in the Ticonderoga H. and Shopping for Love S.
The NY-bred Not for Love mare, dam of 2022 stakes-placed Diamonds Hands, was bred by the late David Cassidy.
