Bourbon S. runner-up Turf Star, a Calumet Farm homebred out of Starstruck (Galileo), is entered in Friday's $1 million Gr1 Breeders' Cup Juvenile Turf.
The son of Caravaggio drew post 11 for the mile test and retains Tyler Gaffalione, who was aboard the Graham Motion pupil for the first time in the Bourbon. Final Score, the Bourbon winner, was not entered in the Juvenile Turf, leaving clear morning line favoritism to Ballydoyle's Gstaad, who breaks from post 14.
The seventh winner from as many foals to race out of MGSW Starstruck, Turf Star has finished 1st/2nd in three starts to date. The eye-catching colt has developed a strong following since arriving to Del Mar from Motion's Fair Hill base.
Starstruck is represented this season by her 3yo daughter Daisy Flyer (Mshawish), winner of the Gr3 Lake George S. in Saratoga. The former Larry Jones trainee foaled a filly by Channel Cat this past season.
