Get Smokin's 1/2 brother Fort Sam had yet to take a step forward in his career. Wednesday at Gulfstream Park, his first was a big one.

The Hurstland Farm graduate out of Hookh Lady came out running in his 4yo debut, winning a seven-furlong MSW by 1 1/2 lengths.

Working well since the start of 2025 for new trainer David Fawkes, the Vino Rosso colt put behind him two unplaced 3yo efforts last summer. Fort Sam contested the pace from inside throughout before and held sway under Paco Lopez with 3yo Sansone, a $1.35 million yearling, rallying for 2nd.

A $550,000 OBS March 2yo purchase by Alex and JoAnn Lieblong, Fort Sam is Hookah Lady's 4th winner, led by over $2 million earner Get Smokin. All were bred by Hurstland in partnership with James Greene.

The Smoke Glacken mare is due to Golden Pal after foaling a Practical Joke filly last season.
