Silo Ridge may have gotten a late jump on his career, but if Sunday's effort in Saratoga was any indication, he's quickly making up ground.

Making his 2nd career start, both in upstate New York, the 3yo son of Ghostzapper chased Digitize throughout the seven-furlong MSW, closing to 1 1/2 lengths of the winner.

A big-striding colt, the Bill Mott trainee gained two lengths on Digitize through the final eighth despite not switching off his left lead. Silo Ridge did improve off a 5th-place debut in July, and this subsequent outing suggests more room for improvement.

Silo Ridge is out of Grand Portege, a Grand Slam mare out of Oatsee (Unbridled), 2011 Broodmare of the Year. The mating highlight the sharing a major influence in the male-lines of Silo Ridge and Oatsee's Gr1-winning 1/2 sister Lady Joanne.

The latter was sired by champion sprinter Orientate, paternal grandson of Blushing Groom, whilst Awesome Again, sire of Ghostzapper, is out of Blushing Groom's outstanding daughter Primal Force.

Silo Ridge was a $200,000 Lee Einsidler purchase at Fasig-Tipton's 2021 Saratoga Select Yearling Sale.
