Daisy Flyer improved off a 6th-place debut to prevail under Julien Leparoux and graduate by a head over Peoma Thursday at Kentucky Downs.

The 2yo Mshawish filly is the 6th winner from as many foals to race out of Starstruck (Galileo), dual winner of the Gr3 Matchmaker S. for Calumet. Trainer Rusty Arnold will likely nominate Daisy Flyer to upcoming stakes including Aqueduct's Gr2 Miss Grillo, a key Breeders' Cup 2yo filly prep.

Blessed with natural pace, Starstruck proved an ideal fit for both American racing and new trainer Larry Jones' program. She won her stateside debut by 5 1/2 lengths ahead of the first of two triumphs in Monmouth Park's historic Matchmaker (photo).

Starstruck's first foal, the War Front filly Turf War, won the Christiecat S. at Belmont Park and is now a broodmare in Japan.
