As NYRA's lucrative summer turf schedule for 3yo fillies resumes, Prerequisite is rising to prominence at the perfect time.
The daughter of Smart Strike's Etsu made a seamless transition from MSW graduate to stakes winner in Sunday's Gr2 Wonder Again S. Victorious in her 2nd career start over Belmont Park's inner turf course last month, the Upstart filly was back on the same course for the nine-furlong Wonder Again.
Flavien Prat urged the Chad Brown pupil to an early lead and secured the hedge to dictate the pace onto the backstretch. Prerequisite opened up their advantage a furlong from home then found enough in reserve to hold Be Your Best sway by a neck.
A $350,000 2yo purchase by First Row Partners, Prerequisite was bred by Airdire Stud, who sourced her dam at Keeneland's 2018 November Sale for $35,000.
Daughter of Forever Beautiful (Giant's Causeway), full-sister to champion filly Farda Amiga, Etsu is a 4th-generation descendant of matriarch Northern Sunset (Northfields).
Bred by the late Michael Baum's Man o'War Farm, Etsu is dam to 2yo Stay Hot (Summer Front) and yearling Complexity colt.
