It's still a tall leap to suggest like father, like son. Nevertheless, Silo Ridge is progressing in a direction his famous sire was once himself.
In a well-meant return to the races Saturday, the 3yo son of Ghostzapper found the winner's circle at Aqueduct in a 6 1/2 furlong MSW. Making his 3rd career start, the Bill Mott trainee showed the same smart late-kick as in his 2nd place Saratoga finish while drawing off 2 1/4 lengths best.
The colt, a $200,000 Fasig-Tipton Saratoga yearling graduate, is out of Grand Portege, daughter of 2011 Broodmare of the Year Oatsee (Unbridled). The Grand Slam mare is also dam of MGSW Florida Won & granddam of 2023 stakes-placed Spicy Marg.
