An Irish import with a pedigree heavy on American influence, Firey Speech is looking right at home in the U.S.
The 5yo son of Street Cry led all the way under Corey Lanerie to post a four-length allowance victory Saturday at Churchill Downs over 1 1/16 miles.
The Brian House trainee confirmed his readiness for American racing with a closing 4th in a strong Keeneland allowance. That race, won by Admission Office in a photo over Instilled Regard, was Firey Speech's best effort since placing 2nd in the Gr3 Golden Fleece Juvenile S. (photo, left) at Leopardstown.
Following an abbreviated 3yo season, the son of Street Cry was sent abroad to continue racing under new ownership. The move now appears to be just what his pedigree suggested all along.
Firey Speech's dam, Firey Red (Pivotal) is out of Step with Style, a Gulch mare who was a Listed winner & MGSP stateside.
