Chilean 3yo Bacan Soltero has big shoes to fill. His first strides in them at Hipodromo Chile, however, looked plenty impressive.

The Flameaway colt graduated Sunday over 1200m for Juan Pablo Baeza, racing home a touch green and with big strides to finish clear of late-running Halo Deep Impact. The Haras Dadinco-bred is the third straight debut winner bred out of Malibu Maple (Malibu Moon), including undefeated full-sister Ando Soltera, now broodmare in Japan.

A daughter of Sky Beauty's 3/4 sister Crimson Maple (Rahy), Malibu Maple was sourced out of the 2016 Keeneland September Sale for export to Haras Dadinco. She is 1/2 sister to subsequent MSW Goldswood (Medaglia d'Oro) and dam to four winners from as many foals, including champion 2yo colt Toy Soltero (Van Nistelrooy).

In addition to Sky Beauty (Blushing Groom), Bacan Soltero's 3rd dam, dual Gr1 winner Maplejinsky (Nijinsky II), produced Our Country Place, dam of Breeders’ Cup Distaff winner Pleasant Home and MGSW winner Country Hideaway. The Pleasant Colony mare also produced the dam of multiple Gr1 winners Pine Island and Point of Entry.
